2017 Domaine Florian Mollet (0,375) - TRADITION Terroir Argile Sancerre 0.38 Ltr. Blanc
picture of

Clean, pleasant if restrained nose. Hints of tropical fruit - banana, melon - along with more prominent nettle and gooseberry. Hint of smoke. On the palate, smooth and rounded, dry, minerally, beautifully balanced fruit sweetness and acidity. Sweet tropical fruit, banana, pineapple with stony mouthfeel. Great length with lingering fruit sweetness and mouthwatering soft acidity.

Goes well with fish and seafood, can also be served with Chavignol goat’s cheese.

climate

Moderate and temperate oceanic climate. Almost all of the appellation lies on the left bank of the Loire, opposite Pouilly-Fumé. It is well regarded for and primarily associated with Sauvignon blanc.

soil

"Argile" is French for clay soil, and that terroir gives this wine a full-bodied feel that is ripe and rich.

vinification

Handpicked grapes, whole bunched pressed and the juice fermented in stainless tanks for 2-3 weeks. The wine was then allowed to age in tank for f4-5 months, in contact with its lees to impart extra depth and complexity. The wine was gently fined and filtered before bottling.
